The Athena technical department has managed to bring to this new big bore thermal unit solutions previously reserved only for engines designed for higher performance such as the 2T Racing GP engines. The various innovative technical solutions (patent pending) introduced in this project now allow this engine to achieve performances never achieved before.

REVOLUTIONIZED CYLINDER PIPES

< p style="margin:0px 0px 0.375rem;font-family:Muli, sans-serif;font-size:16px;background-color:#ffffff;">The great experience of Athena technicians also in the world of 2T has allowed us to thinking about this cylinder upsetting tradition. The exhaust ports have been completely redesigned. Thanks to thermo-fluid dynamic analysis systems of the engine, it was possible to increase the performance of the engine in terms of power and torque, with results never achieved before.

Thanks to the innovative cylinder fixing system to the crankcase without using studs, it was possible to design and adopt a light exhaust with oval geometry of increased section with lateral boosters. This solution cannot be found on any other cylinder of this type on the market today.

HEADER SELF-CENTERING RECESSED

The header is another element where R&D Athena paid particular attention: the redesign of the camera

scoppio included a study of the internal configuration to maximize the power generated by the combustion phase.

CNC machining involves a profile that protrudes 1.5 mm from the support surface; this element, in addition to facilitating installation, allows you to maintain perfect centering on the cylinder. Furthermore, the sealing capacity and therefore the efficiency of the entire thermal unit also further benefits.

NEW RACING PISTON

The study of flat-head piston was conducted with a particular focus on the interaction with the intake. The CNC machined window on the casing is designed to maximize the incoming flow and thus promote greater pressure on the pump crankcase and better lubrication of the roller cage.

FIXING SYSTEM REINVENTED

All the normal head and cylinder tightening based on studs has been eliminated in favor of the introduction of a new system that adopts special bolts usually used in higher performance engines. The tightening of the cylinder to the crankcase (Racing type) with dedicated bolts and wrench is a solution that on the one hand reduces the expansion of the cylinder, to the advantage of more efficient tightening, and on the other allows the sophisticated redesign of the exhaust port which makes this such a special and high-performance product.
