These high-performance sport catalytic converters feature a 250 cell per square inch substrate, made from the highest quality materials available today, designed to improve airflow to your vehicle and increase performance. Additionally, the sport catalytic converters include custom hand-stitched heat blankets to reduce under-hood temperatures while protecting surrounding bodywork, hoses and painted surfaces from residual heat damage.
Made from T309 (1.4828) stainless steel and hand polished to a mirror finish.
The cell count of a catalytic converter refers to the number of holes per square inch and is a direct indication of the flow capabilities of that converter. The lower the hole count, the larger the hole must be to fill a square inch, a larger hole subsequently flows more exhaust gas.
All that high flow won't help if the converter is "squeezed" into a can or pipe that is too small in diameter. For this reason, the CAPRISTO Sports Cat is packaged in 5.2" packages to maximize exhaust flow and valved exhaust system operation.
The CAPRISTO valved exhaust system helps low RPM torque by providing back pressure in the exhaust and increases temperature for proper catalytic converter operation. While in the high RPM open valve condition, it takes full advantage of the free flow characteristics of the CAPRISTO Sport Cats by optimizing the high energy exhaust at the ideal temperature and back pressure to maximize performance.
These catalytic converters can easily be bolted onto CAPRISTO exhaust systems or any system that will fit directly over the OEM exhaust.
Recommended for off-road and track use only.
Replacing the OEM catalytic converter(s) may cause the CEL (Check Engine Light) to go off.
To disable a recurring CEL you will need to tune the ECU or use 02 sensor extensions.
The factory F430 exhaust mounting bracket has a critical design flaw. The solid mount to the vehicle frame does not allow for any thermal expansion. The lack of expansion causes stress to be pushed back into the engine and results in cracked headers or catalytic converters. Capristo offers an improved mounting bracket that is a critical preventative maintenance item. The Capristo design uses four spring-mounted suspension points to allow for this thermal expansion (up to 1.5 inches). If your exhaust components have already failed, DO NOT replace them without also replacing the mounting bracket with the Capristo design as it will fail again. Both Capristo F430 exhaust systems (valve and free flow) include this mounting bracket.
