Honda FK2 turbo pipe V3

Some photos show our optional engine cover.

Performance increase: 9 HP, peak 9 ft-lbs, 15 hp 18 ft-lbs below 4,000 rpm

Here is our updated Carbon Turbo Tube for the FK2, which now has even more volume, allowing the turbo to run with even fewer restrictions and thus releasing even more power.

This turbo pipe has been designed to fit the our FK2 intake system with carbon MAF tube.

The Our turbo tube was designed with these 3 key objectives:

1) VOLUME: Inlet diameters: Eventuri 78mm at the intake end, up to 88mm from the stock 63mm. Starting from the intake system connection, we have matched the MAF pipe diameter and it now increases to 88mm across the main section of the pipe, giving a 96% increase in cross-sectional area over the OEM pipe. Clearly with dimensions of the significantly larger internal diameter, the Eventuri tube encapsulates a much larger internal volume that de-limits the flow path to the turbo. This allows the turbo to operate more efficiently and reach maximum power levels more quickly. It also allows the turbo to operate at maximum power with a lower turbine load.

2) FLOW QUALITY: Having only a large internal volume is not a good thing if the flow path does not also allow for a good flow. 'regular air to the turbo. By using high temperature pre-impregnated carbon fiber we were able to achieve a smooth internal surface. In contrast, the stock inlet pipe is made of die-cast aluminum which ends up with a rough internal surface. This, combined with the regular curvature of the elbow, results in a flow path that minimizes turbulence.

3) TEMPERATURE: The final criterion was to minimize heat conduction in the air flow. The series inlet is directly connected to the turbo and therefore immediately conducts heat when the turbo starts up. Our system uses a machined flange that connects to the turbo and then a silicone joint with an integrated heat spacer to prevent the carbon elbow from having direct contact with the turbo. This barrier, combined with the low thermal conductivity of the carbon fiber thickness, results in lower heat transfer to the airflow.

Test on the test bench

Our new turbo pipe was independently tested at Dream Automotive on an FK8 with stage 1 mapping. All runs had the same map and our intake system and were run on the same day, one after the other. The OEM pipe was tested to set a baseline and then swapped for the V1 pipe. This showed an increase of 4 HP at peak rpm as expected . We then swapped it for the new V3 pipe and gained another 5hp over the V1 pipe at peak, which equates to 9hp over the OEM pipe. That’s about double the power gained over the previous version. Because the volume is greater, we expect even greater gains with high-horsepower builds requiring where the turbo requires more airflow.

Test bench Previous version

The above tests are based on our previous tests for the V1 tube:

Our carbon elbow has been extensively tested on the road and on the dyno. We tested a fully tuned phase 2 FK2 point and also a completely stock FK8. The tuned FK2 had stage 2 software, downpipe, exhaust, intake and methanol. At this level of tune the stock pipe has a restriction and so our larger pipe allowed the engine to make more power across the entire rpm range. We also tested a completely stock FK8 and although the OEM pipe does not present a restriction at this power level, the results show that the turbo still benefits from the larger pipe as it is able to accelerate faster and reach maximum boost sooner, hence the gains below 4k rpm. The results show that the higher the demand from the turbo, the greater the advantage in using our carbon turbo inlet pipe. Tests were run on the same day consecutively with the hood closed and ambient temperatures were monitored for consistency. Multiple runs were performed for each configuration to achieve a repeatable result.

The Eventuri FK2 Carbon Turbo Tube is made up of a series of components designed to perform a specific purpose and manufactured to the highest standards. We use 100% pre-preg carbon fiber with no fiberglass, which means we can achieve a smooth internal surface to maintain smoother airflow. Here are the details for each component and the design ethos behind them:

Each turbo hose set consists of:

  • Carbon fiber turbo pipe
  • Optional Carbon V2 MAF Pipe (if required)
  • Custom silicone joint on the suction side ... ="vertical-align:inherit;">CNC Machined Turbo Flange
  • Honda T-Mod Kit< /li>
  • Custom silicone gasket on turbo side
  • Laser-cut stainless steel brackets
  • Anti-vibration mount

Carbon Fiber Turbo Pipe

Made from pre-impregnated carbon fiber, the turbo pipe is a one-piece design to maintain a smooth flow path to the turbo. It has an inlet diameter of 78mm internally which matches the cross-section of the MAF pipe and maintains this dimension for most of its length, then tapers gently towards the stock turbo inlet. The stock turbo pipe, on the other hand, has an internal diameter of only 63 mm. This difference in size equates to an increase in cross-sectional area of over 53%. Additionally, because it is made of carbon, it has a much lower weight and lower thermal conductivity through the wall thickness than the stock cast aluminum tube.

Custom Silicone Hoses< /span>

Our silicone joint hoses have been designed to ensure a perfect fit and also to maintain a smooth internal airflow. The main silicone hose on the inlet side has an internal step that mates against the turbo pipe thus eliminating the potential for turbulence against the exposed wall thickness of the pipe. The turbo joint has a silicone spacer ring that separates the carbon from the metal turbo flange. This acts as a thermal barrier to reduce heat conduction from the hot turbo flange to the carbon tube.

Worked on CNC machined from aircraft grade aluminum and anodized, our flange offers a perfect fit and seal against turbo series.

Fit and options

The carbon turbo pipe only fits our FK2 intake which has the V2 carbon MAF pipe. If you need this extra tube, please order it separately with the item number: EVE-FK2-CF-MAF.
