Performance increase: 24-30 HP, 28-35 foot-pounds
The FK2 Type R V2 Eventuri system uses our patented carbon fiber housing with our custom filter Gen 2 size, which provides an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbos. Not just another conical filter with a heat shield, but a unique design that mimics the Venturi effect and maintains laminar flow conditions to reduce resistance on the turbo.
The FK2 Type R V2 intake is an updated version of our original FK2 system that now replaces the stock rubber inlet pipe with our carbon pipe and custom silicone hose. The new carbon pipe also incorporates the MAF sensor and therefore also replaces our original metal MAF pipe from the original Eventuri system. The addition of the carbon pipe smooths out the path from the venturi housing to the stock turbo inlet pipe and the difference is significant in terms of the extra performance gained. The rest of the intake remains the same with our cold air intake and venturi housing providing smooth airflow and low intake temperatures. By incorporating an effective cold air feed that the stock system lacks, coupled with our patented venturi housing and carbon inlet tube, our intake delivers industry-leading results, consistently. Available in carbon fibre and red Kevlar/carbon hybrid.
The standard airbox draws air from the engine bay, which will be very hot once the engine has reached operating temperature. Simply placing an open cone filter with any number of heat shields in the same spot will cause exactly the same problem - the system will suck in hot air and result in a loss of obtainable power. Our intake system utilizes a cold air supply from the panel under the windshield, allowing the filter to be saturated with ambient air no matter how hot the engine bay gets. This, combined with our unique venturi housing for smooth flow, results in an immediate gain across the entire RPM range of 24-30 horsepower and a significant torque increase of 28-35 ft-lbs over the stock airbox. The dyno chart shows the Eventuri V2 intake vs. the stock airbox using a stock tune and an aftermarket intercooler (for all runs). As you can see, multiple runs were logged to show consistency in horsepower gains over the stock system. Tests for each configuration were run on the same day consecutively and temperatures were monitored to ensure consistency.
Components
Each component is designed for a purpose and to a very high standard. Each Eventuri FK2 V2 kit consists of:
Carbon Intake Housing Assembly
Made from 100% pre-preg carbon fiber of the highest quality, the workmanship of the housing is second to none. This encapsulates the filter and is paired with an anodized aluminum inlet pod to ensure a smooth inlet flow path. The filter itself is a deep pleated dry filter that has been custom made to our specifications. The carbon venturi housing smoothly shapes the airflow up to the MAF tube and ensures laminar conditions to reduce drag on the turbo and also avoid MAF sensor errors. With the turbo able to draw air with less restriction, the engine is able to produce more power.
The filter housing comprises the high flow filter, aluminum pod, V-Band clamp, laser cut bracket and the patented carbon pod itself. The carbon pod wraps around the reverse mounted filter and gently shapes the airflow all the way to the intake tube. This geometry is reminiscent of the Venturi effect where the airflow accelerates while maintaining laminar conditions. It can be thought of as a large velocity stack - below is a diagram showing how our patented design compares to a regular intake system. Our custom filters help the airflow move through the housings and allow for a smooth velocity profile as the airflow exits the housings. Further details can be read in the Technology and Filters pages.
Cold air duct
Shown here in Carbon/Kevlar Hybrid Red, the cold air duct has been designed to capture ambient air and direct it to the filter housing. This is a key component in our system that ensures a direct and continuous supply of cold air to the filter, no matter how hot the engine bay gets. The stock airbox and any other intake system without a cold air supply will experience heat absorption and power loss as the engine bay temperature rises. A neoprene gasket around the upper lip of the duct seals it to the scuttle panel. Additionally, there is a built-in water drain at the base of the duct - a PVC pipe is connected to this to direct the water out to the street.
Pre-Cut Scuttle Panel
For ease of installation we supply an OEM panel that has been precision cut to ensure a perfect fit to the cold air duct.
Carbon intake tube
Our new carbon intake pipe replaces the stock rubber pipe and in doing so smooths out the path from the filter housing to the turbo inlet. The carbon tube incorporates a CNC machined MAF sensor mount, so there are no additional interfaces after the airflow leaves the filter housing. The tube provides a smoother transition from the filter to the metal turbo inlet pipe than the stock rubber tube, further increasing flow efficiency. Here is a comparison between the stock tubes and the carbon ones.
flexible silicone custom
The final component of our V2 FK2 system is the flexible silicone tubing that connects the carbon tube to the metal inlet tube. This part features an internal step that mates to the stock metal inlet tube and thus eliminates the exposed wall thickness of the metal tube. Many aftermarket silicone hoses simply run over this metal tube and leave the end exposed to the oncoming airflow, which causes turbulence. The photo below shows the internal step.< /span>
The flexible hoses in carbon and silicone combine to provide a much smoother path from the filter to the turbo inlet: tests have shown a significant improvement in power. span>
The components come together to form our FK2 intake system which releases more horsepower and torque from the engine, offers improved throttle response, and produces an incredible improvement in intake sound.
