BMW F87 M2 Competition

The M2 Competition Eventuri system uses our patented carbon fiber housings with our custom-made Gen 2 filters, which provide an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbos. Not just another conical filter with a heat shield, but a unique design that mimics the Venturi effect and maintains laminar flow conditions to reduce drag on the turbo.

The F87 M2 Competition intake system is designed to allow the turbos to operate more efficiently. By replacing the stock airbox system with our patented venturi filter housings and gently curved tubes, the airflow to the turbos is more laminar, so they can spin with less resistance. Since the M2 Competition has no air intake openings behind the grilles, we've also added sealed ducts to ensure intake temperatures remain as low as possible. The combination of our Venturi housings, organically shaped tubes and sealed ducts results in an optimized intake that sets a benchmark for this platform.

We've included a dynamometer plot showing the Eventuri versus the stock airbox on an M2 Competition. The car has had no other modifications. As you can see, power and torque are increased across a wide rpm range. On the road, this translates into increased mid- and full-throttle response with the car pulling much more eagerly towards redline. The tests were run on the same day back to back and temperatures were monitored to ensure consistency. The bonnet was closed for all racing.

The Eventuri M2 Competition intake system is made up of a series of components designed to perform a specific purpose and manufactured to the highest standards. Here are the details for each component and the design ethos behind them:

Each suction system consists of:

  • 2 x Patented Carbon Fiber Venturi Housings
  • 2 x Custom Fit High Flow Generation 2 Filters
  • 2 x Aluminum Cups for Smooth Airflow Intake
  • Left Side Carbon Fiber Pipe with MAF Sensor Mount integrated
  • Right side carbon pipe with integrated MAF sensor holder
  • 2x carbon fibre intake ducts
  • Laser cut stainless steel brackets
  • High quality silicone joints with BMW specific hose clamps

FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLIES

The filter housings include high-flow filters, aluminum cans, V-Band clamps, laser-cut brackets and the patented carbon pods themselves. The carbon pods wrap around the reverse-mounted filter and gently shape the airflow all the way to the intake tubes. This geometry mimics the Venturi effect where airflow accelerates while maintaining laminar conditions. It can be thought of as a large velocity stack - below is a diagram showing how our patented design compares to a standard intake system. Our custom filters help the airflow move through the housings and allow for a smooth velocity profile as the airflow exits the housings. CARBON SEALING PIPES

The filter slots are positioned with the openings sealed against the carbon ducts. These ducts are designed to fit into the stock cold air ducts and direct ambient air into the filters. These ducts seal the filter housing openings and prevent hot air from entering the filters.

CARBON INTAKE PIPES

Our intake pipes are made from 100% pre-preg carbon fiber. Each pipe has an integrated MAF sensor mount, CNC machined from aluminum. The shorter pipe on the left side transitions smoothly from the carbon housing to the turbo inlet pipe. The longer intake pipe on the right side has to pass the fan shroud and strut brace. To do this, we used the same principle as the stock pipe, changing the cross-section from a circle at the turbo inlet pipe to an oval for the distance above the shroud, then back to a circle at the end of the filter housing. We made sure these transitions were gradual so as not to interrupt the airflow, and we kept the cross-section area the same to keep the velocity through the pipe constant. All components come together in the engine bay to produce a genuine enhancement in the driving experience and provide an incredible display of form and function in complete harmony.
