AUDI 8Y RS3
The RS3 8Y intake system caters for all power levels, from stock to over 1000whp. This intake system has been developed to deliver the highest possible flow while maintaining the lowest possible intake temperatures. Every component has been designed to provide a smooth, flowing path for the turbo. The intake pipe has an internal diameter of 103mm or just over 4" and has a smooth curve from the filter housing to the turbo inlet. The filter itself has been designed specifically for this intake and has a massive external diameter of 210mm or 8.3" with a filtration surface area of over 130,000mm^2.
Performance increase (RS3 with stock turbo): 15-20 hp, 13-18 ft-lb
Test Bench Data: Stock Intake 530 CFM: Eventuri Intake 840 CFM
The accommodation The patented venturi has been designed to provide the maximum internal volume possible for the available space in the RS3 engine bay and provides laminar flow to the turbo pipe. Finally, the duct seals the filter opening on the front end panel, but is not limited to just the stock input power. We raised the front of the duct to create an extra opening behind the hood which equates to an extra 7" diameter hole for intake to draw from. The resulting system has the capacity to flow 840 CFM at 28" H2O while maintaining to minimize intake temperatures with the sealed design.
The Eventuri Difference
The RS3 8Y Eventuri system uses our patented carbon fiber housings which provide an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbo pipe. Not just another cone filter with a heat shield, but a unique design that recalls the Venturi effect.
Flow Bench Test
We conducted flow tests using a Superflow SF-1020 to measure the maximum possible flow rate at a pressure drop of 28” H2O. Testing was done on the same day under controlled conditions using the same test jig for each system. We tested our complete intake system against the stock airbox system. The results show how restrictive the stock airbox is, which we managed to improve up to 58% in maximum possible range. It is important to note that this has been achieved with a sealed intake system, so intake temperatures will also be kept to a minimum.
Our RS3 intake has been tested by various reputable tuners globally who have built high-powered RS3/TTRS projects for street and track use. The first set of results come from MSL Performance who tested our system on an RS3 8Y series. Tests were performed on the same day consecutively. As you can see, there is a measurable gain across the rev range up to 22hp. This gain even on a production car is evident on the road with improved throttle response and quicker acceleration.
The next set of results comes from BR Performance Netherlands who tested our system on a TTRS equipped with a TTE700 turbo hybrid. The tests were performed on the same day one after the other with the bonnet closed. They tested the stock airbox against our stage 3 intake and also with the addition of our 4" turbo inlet pipe, which is an add-on product; details can be viewed on our Audi product page. span>
Dyno Results Summary:
Our RS3 intake has also been tested on full frame turbo builds that have pushed the limits of the DAZA engine . Recent testing by Eurocharged Canada used our stage 3 intake to achieve 1010whp, which further demonstrates the flow capability of the Eventuri system. During testing, Eurocharged tuners commented that they were able to get more power with a lower boost setting using our stage 3 intake than other systems they had used. Their RS3 has already achieved a 9.1-second quarter-mile pass with a terminal speed of 160 mph and they are well set to dip into the 9-second range soon.
< p>The earnings come from a combination of reasons:The Eventuri RS3 8Y intake system consists of a series of components designed to perform a specific purpose and manufactured to the highest standards. We use 100% pre-impregnated carbon fiber with no fiberglass, which means we can achieve a smooth internal surface to maintain a smoother airflow. Here are the details for each component and the design ethos behind them:
Each suction system consists of:
Patented Venturi filter housing assembly
The Stage 3 filter housing consists of a high-performance filter custom flow, an aluminum cap, laser cut brackets and the carbon pod itself. The carbon pod wraps around the reverse mounted filter and gently shapes the airflow to the intake tubes. This gentle reduction of the cross-sectional area resembles the Venturi effect where the airflow accelerates while maintaining laminar conditions. It can be thought of as a large velocity stack: below is a diagram showing how our patented design compares to a typical system of suction. Further details can be read on the Technology page. Custom Stage 3 Conical Filter To get the maximum possible range, we had to redesign our Stage 2 filter and increase the size as much as possible within the filter area. RS3 engine bay. The resulting filter has an outside diameter of 210mm or 8.3" and when tested with the carbon housing alone is capable of flowing up to 940 CFM at 28" H2O. The filter media is ISO tested to ensure that the filtration is in line with OEM standards and is also dry. The filter is built with our signature flow cones to aid in the Venturi housing principle. Carbon fiber intake duct The duct directs ambient air from the end panel area to the filter housing. It fits inside the system OEM ducts and transforms seamlessly into the circular shape of the filter housing. To ensure a good seal against engine bay heat, it also has a flexible rubber lip around the opening that presses against the filter housings creating the desired seal but allowing the housing to move with the engine. Since it was designed to support high horsepower builds, we found that the stock openings in the end panel could cause restriction under high flow demands. So we raised the top surface of the duct and created an opening above the end panel that could draw cold air from behind the closed hood. This extra opening equates to a hole over 7" in diameter and completely de-restricts the stock cold air supply. The Stage 3 duct has been designed to have the greatest internal volume possible within the given engine bay geometry. This ensures that the filter housing is able to draw with the least restriction. We also made sure that the Stage 3 duct is compatible with larger aftermarket throttle bodies. Carbon Fiber Intake Pipe The intake pipe is made from 100% pre-preg carbon fiber and so as mentioned, The inner surface is smooth and the carbon weave is visible. The stage 3 tube has an internal diameter of 103mm or 4" and has a smooth curve to minimize pressure drop. It channels the airflow from the venturi housing to the turbo inlet. The smooth curve geometry ensures that laminar flow is maintained from the filters to the outlets. Heat Shield
Due to the intense heat generated by the turbo, we have designed a heat shield to protect the carbon pipe. The shield is powder coated black but has a gold reflective layer on the base which deflects radiation heat away from the turbo and catalytic converter. It has a stainless steel reinforcement to provide rigidity and curves around the back of the tube to deflect convective heat. Note: This shield may not fit some full frame turbo systems with a different exhaust manifold.
